Inframark is seeking a Public Works Technician to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their workday. In this role, you'll rotate through multiple public works functions, including grounds maintenance, landscaping, municipal property upkeep, and meter reading operations. No two days are exactly alike, and you'll play an important role in helping maintain the safety, appearance, and functionality of the community we serve.
What You'll Do
As a Public Works Technician, you'll gain hands-on experience across several areas of municipal operations, including:
Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping
- Mow, trim, and maintain parks, rights-of-way, and municipal properties.
- Plant, fertilize, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and landscaped areas.
- Control weeds and assist with seasonal beautification projects.
- Remove brush, leaves, and storm debris to keep public spaces safe and attractive.
- Assist with sodding, landscape installations, and fence repairs.
Meter Reading & Utility Support
- Read and record water meter information along assigned routes.
- Help ensure accurate and timely utility usage reporting.
- Support utility maintenance activities as needed.
Public Works Operations
- Operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, chainsaws, weed eaters, chippers, concrete saws, backhoes, and other maintenance equipment.
- Assist with roadway, sidewalk, drainage, and right-of-way maintenance projects.
- Repair sidewalks and concrete surfaces, clear roadways of debris, and help maintain traffic signs and markings.
- Support pipeline and drainage projects by assisting crews in identifying existing utilities and preparing work areas.
- Perform general maintenance and minor repairs to municipal facilities and equipment.
Community Support
- Help prepare for community events, festivals, parades, and public gatherings.
- Install decorations, assemble temporary structures, and support event operations.
- Assist with traffic control and roadway safety at work sites.
- Participate in storm response and emergency cleanup efforts when needed.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months of landscaping, grounds maintenance, outdoor labor, or related experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power equipment, and work vehicles.
- Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
Skills & Abilities
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude when interacting with coworkers and the public.
Work Environment
This is an active, outdoor position that offers the opportunity to work in a variety of settings throughout the community. Employees may be exposed to:
- Hot, cold, wet, or humid weather conditions.
- Dust, pollen, noise, vibration, and outdoor environmental conditions.
- Traffic, machinery, chemicals, and other worksite hazards.
All work is performed in accordance with company, OSHA, and safety regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and climbing.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry 50+ pounds.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
- Availability to work overtime and emergency response assignments when necessary.
